2016 XPT to 2017 XPT Primary and Secondary Clutch Conversion

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get your opinion on this matter as I am not sure of what direction to head. My RZR is stock except for Stage III EVO kit (exhaust, ECE reflash and charge tube). Even when stock before stage III upgrade I noticed that machine's belt would get hot fast above 50 mph or so. I started to compare 2016 and 2017 primary and secondary clutch diagrams and it became clear it would be pretty easy to swap out different parts for 2017 and then run the 2017 belt. Now I have primary upgraded (new OEM weights, stiffer spring etc) and secondary upgraded to 2017 parts (new helix, buttons and a few different washers etc). However, here is my dilemma...the 2016 appears to use the splined washer on transmission output shaft as a spacer behind secondary while 2017 does NOT use splined washer. Would you use the washer or not? I am inclined to not use it but there seems to be some free play in secondary once on the machine but I can't say that I checked this free play on secondary to compare to current setup either. Any suggestions?
